Thursday 13th June - Year 5 and 6 visited Martin Mere today. They had a fantastic time and as always set a perfect example when the children are out and about. We received multiple comments from the Martin Mere staff about their impeccable manners and behaviour. The children had a great time exploring and taking part in the many activities! They have returned to school keen to become Guardians of the Wild!
Thursday 22nd May - Today the Mini Vinnies and Mrs Towey organised their Pentecost Party. All the children had a slot during the afternoon to take part in various activities, including; meditation, Scripture reading, word searches, graffiti wall writing, Lego building, etc. to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit.
Wednesday 21st May - This afternoon we held our St Alphonsus' Got Talent finals! Three acts from each year group were successful in their heats to make it through to the grand final in the school hall. All the children were fantastic and the judging panel picked 3 lucky winning groups!
Tuesday 20th May - The Mini Vinnies held a book and cake sale today!
Friday 16th May - Year 2 and Year 3 had the privilege of working with Lynda Sterling and Rosie Anbiszko, our local Old Trafford artists, on a creative art project on the subject of Reclaimed Narratives. Rosie used her diorama folk art which celebrated her Ukrainian and Italian heritage, to inspire the children to design folk puppets of animals from their local area to celebrate their Old Trafford culture and heritage. This fantastic morning of Art and Design culminated in a celebratory parade around our school grounds, allowing the local residents to share their wonderful work. On 21st children will again have the opportunity to showcase their fabulous puppets in the Ayres Road Festival.
Friday 16th May - Years 5 and 6 went to Old Trafford Cricket Ground today for their Schools' Open Day. They enjoyed watching Lancashire play cricket as well as loads of other activities including; rock climbing, remote control car racing, axe throwing, a silent disco and testing their reaction times on a speedway bike! All children and staff had a great day and were blessed with cloudless skies!
Thursday 8th May - VE Day Celebrations! Today we held a special celebration day for the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. We started the day with a special assembly, completed different activities in our classrooms and finished the day with a picnic on our grassed area! We had a fantastic time celebrating such a special occasion.
Thursday 17th April - The Mini Vinnies performed their Easter Assembly today in preparation for Easter Sunday this weekend. They re-told the Easter story through drama and music.
Year 3 and 4 have been working in small groups to create a freeze frame to portray the 14 stations of the cross. After each class came to reflect and say a prayer at each station, parents were invited to come in and also reflect and pray at each station.
Wednesday 2nd April - Year 4 and 5 helped clear the field of rubbish this afternoon in preparation for the summer term. All children were happy to help take care of our common home in line with Laudato Si.
Thursday 13th March - The Eco Reds held their 'clothes swap' today in the school hall where all children and their families were allowed to come in and choose pre-loved clothing. The Eco Reds are pilgrims of hope this Jubilee Year by organising and sharing pre-worn clothes equally within our whole school family, being wonderful stewards of our school community by meeting the needs of everyone.
Friday 28th February - Miss Scott has kindly donated books to support the Mini Vinnies in their Lenten project of holding a 'pre-loved' book sale - turning their concern into action to raise money to support SVP local charities.
Thank you for all your support for our recent non-uniform day! We received a lovely letter from Bolton Cancer Voices passing on their thanks.
Our Mini Vinnies launched the Jubilee Year today in a special assembly. They told us how Pope Francis has invited us all to be Pilgrims of Hope and to look at how we can reflect on Jesus’ message of the good news of justice, freedom and love. Father Pat also attended and commissioned the new Mini Vinnies.
Friday 20th December - Today we had our final assembly of 2024 and remembered the true reason of Christmas. Following the assembly, we held our Advent token draw and every child in school recveived a Christmas gift!

Wednesday 18th December - The whole school enjoyed a panto this afternoon as their trophy wall reward treat for autumn term!
Thursday 12th December - Our KS2 Choir visited the Limelight Centre today to perform a selection of Carols to the local community.

Monday 9th December - The children performed their guitar concert to their parents today. Having spent the last 10 weeks working hard with Pete, they were fantastic!
Friday 6th December - 6 lucky children visited Old Trafford today to take part in the Santa Run! They completed two laps around the stadium followed by a party with music, dancing, games and crafts! Just before the children headed back to school, a special visitor arrived and all the children left with a goody bag! They had a great time!
Thursday 5th December - It's Christmas Dinner Day at St Alphonsus! All the children and staff enjoyed a delicious Christmas Dinner cooked by our wonderful kitchen staff!
Tuesday 3rd December - Year 5 and 6 performed their Clarinet and Saxophone concert to their parents today. Having spent the last 10 weeks working hard with Miss Fazakerley, they were fantastic!
w/c 11th November - The school held its coffee mornings this week for all classes. Parents were invited in for a hot drink and to spend time with their children.
Wednesday 6th November - Year 4 and 5 at Ascension Church in Hulme for the Home/Lands Chronicles musical exploration performance!
Parent Library Visit - It has been lovely meeting up with our parents and talking about our Read, Write Inc reading scheme and how it works in our school. We’ve had the chance to model sharing a library book and reading for pleasure with the children. All of our parents then enjoyed sharing a book with their children in our newly refurbished library.
Monday 30th September - Our Mini Vinnies led our school mission statement assembly today. They have worked hard and produced a fantastic assembly and led the school in unpicking our Mission Statement and linking it with Scripture. Each class will complete a variety of work based on our Mission Statement this week.
Monday 16th September - Miss Rooney led the KS2 choir this afternoon.
Friday 13th September - The new Heads and Deputies spoke to the school in assembly today and set their targets for the year ahead!
Friday 13th September - It was lovely to see all our new Reception siblings today in assembly! The staff and children enjoyed trying to match up older brothers and sisters with their new starters!
Wednesday 11th September - We welcomed Father Pat in this afternoon and he carried out the start of the year Mass.
Congratulations to Alfie! Our latest winner of the Caritas Salford Catholic Social Teaching Award for his effort in going above and beyond by doing a walk for life and raising £182 for charity! Well done Alfie!
