Wednesday 19th November - Today was the St Alphonsus Bake Off! Lots of children, from all year groups, baked or brought cakes in to be judged by our lovely Mrs Simcock and Mrs Roberts. The children's efforts were amazing and it was extremely difficult to pick one winner. All children who took part were given a certificate of participation and the overall winning cake was awarded to Betsy in Year 3! Well done everyone for your fantastic efforts and a tasty day!
Luqman in Year 6 has won the Manchester United entry for a national poetry competition run by the Premier League. The theme was 'Greatness Comes From Everywhere' and entries were to celebrate diversity. Luqman's poem was recognised in school and also by Andrew Western - the Stretford and Urmston MP!
Wednesday 12th November - Year 5 and 6 welcomed their parents in this morning for coffee morning. We had an excellent turnout and lots of parents enjoyed a hot drink, biscuit and spent some time with their child completing some activities.
Thursday 6th November - today we celebrated Day of the Dead. Over the half term holidays, the children had been busy creating their Ofrendas to remember someone special in their lives who had passed. Today, all the Ofrendas and Day of the Dead activities were used to create an alter in the hall where Mrs Birds led a special assembly to remember all our loved ones.
Wednesday 5th November - Today St Alphonsus welcomed the Anchor into our school. Mrs Birds, Mrs Towey and some of our Mini Vinnies collected the anchor from the previous school and then Mrs Birds led an assembly to explain to all the children the importance of the anchor and what it represents to our Catholic Faith.
Tuesday 14th October - Mini Vinnies Assembly
Wednesday 17th September - Father Pat delivered the First Academic Year Mass today to the whole school in the hall. Some children had written and read the Bidding Prayers during the service as well as singing hymns and Celebrating the Word.
Groups of children worked collaboratively with Abundance Manchester, picking fruit from our orchard to feed our local community.
