October 2025 - Computing: Pupils worked on a collaborative project, creating a fact file about a South American country, using only their laptops to communicate. Once completed, each group will present their country fact file to the rest of the class.
20th October 2025 - Science: Year 6 had fun exploring different light phenomena, such as reflection, refraction and optical illusions. They also enjoyed using a range of optical instruments, including periscopes and microscopes.
15th October 2025 - English: Year 6 had to retrieve information from our class novel "Letters from the Lighthouse" and use these details to create a map of the fictional Devonshire village of Budmouth Point.
8th October - Mathematics: Year 6 used counters to help them to understand the importance of using the correct order of operations (BODMAS).
8th October - Physical Education: Year 6 were challenged to guide their blindfolded partner around an obstacle course. Not only did this enhance their empathy and trust, it also put their communication skills to the test!
October:- Science: Year 6 investigated how shadows can change. They concluded that the closer an object is to the light source, the bigger the shadow will be.
Friday 3rd October - Year 6 kicked off our class assemblies in style this morning celebrating Black History Month. They welcomed all the children and their parents in to the hall and performed their assembly perfectly.
2nd October - Year 6 participated in a Diversity Workshop delivered by the Manchester United Foundation. During the workshop, pupils reflected on how our differences make us all unique, with a focus on Diversity in Sport and Black History Month. As part of the workshop and to celebrate National Poetry Day, each child created their own poem linked to diversity.
September 2025 - Science: Children investigated the reflectivity of different materials using a reflective light catcher.
September 2025 - Computing: LO: To recognise how data is transferred across the internet. Children simulated the process of sending data packets over a network. The children around the edge of the room were the computer systems and the children in the middle were the routers, passing information from one to the other. Amazingly, all the data packets travelled to their correct destination - well done, Year 6!
September 2025 - Science: To explore how light travels. Year 6 modelled how light travels in straight lines using a piece of ribbon and then drew scientific diagrams to represent this.
